Advantages of the Ledger Stax
- Large touchscreen: The larger screen sets the Stax apart from other models, with a diameter 2 cm larger than the Flex. This spacious touchscreen provides much better visibility during transactions, making the Stax more user-friendly than the Nano S Plus or Nano X.
- Unique extra features: The Stax is the only Ledger wallet that can wirelessly charge and has a slightly curved E-ink screen, allowing you to display a name on the side. You can also show an NFT on the screen, which remains visible even when the Stax is turned off.
- Includes protective case: As the only Ledger wallet, the Stax comes with a protective case. This is particularly useful because the screen is made of plastic (see disadvantages).
- Extensive cryptocurrency support: Like all Ledger wallets, the Stax supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies and tokens, just like the Nano S Plus, Nano X, and Flex.
- Bluetooth and battery for wireless use: Thanks to Bluetooth and the built-in battery, which lasts up to 10 hours (or approximately 150 transactions), you can easily use the Stax on the go.
- Compatible with PC: In addition to wireless options, you can also connect the Stax to your Linux, macOS, or Windows computer via USB.
- Ledger Live app: The Stax works seamlessly with Ledger’s Ledger Live app, which offers additional features such as buying, selling, and staking crypto.
Disadvantages of the Ledger Stax
- Higher price range: Priced at €399, the Stax is in the higher-end segment. If this budget is not suitable, the Ledger Flex might be a good alternative.
- Plastic screen: The E-ink screen is slightly curved, which gives the Stax a plastic screen instead of Gorilla Glass. This makes it less scratch-resistant than the screen on the Ledger Flex.
Who is the Ledger Stax suitable for?
We recommend the Ledger Stax for users who:
- Want to use their wallet daily or weekly; the higher price translates into more convenience.
- Want to connect their wallet to an iOS or Android phone and/or a Windows, macOS, or Linux computer.
Find the Stax interesting but too expensive? The Ledger Flex is a good alternative. The Flex is €150 cheaper, has a slightly smaller screen, and does not offer wireless charging. Otherwise, the Stax and Flex are similar in features.
Don’t use your wallet often and don’t mind a smaller screen? The Ledger Nano S Plus (for PC-only use) or the Ledger Nano X (for use with both PC and smartphone) may be a good choice.
